Being vegan is hard. But not in the way most people think.

It’s hard because we constantly think about the animals who are suffering, and whose lives are ending. Being vegan is hard because at least for me, my heart hurts constantly.

Eating and living vegan is easy. Constantly being reminded about animals being tortured and murdered is hard.

my feminist goal is not to convince men that girls are of value, my feminist goal is to achieve a future where the judgement of our value isn’t in the hands of men.

and this goes for, especially goes for, trans girls, girls of colour, disabled girls and LGBTQA+ girls.

girls, all girls, and if you believe otherwise don’t reblog this.

Okay but you can be against animal cruelty and not be a vegan. Like I eat meat but if I saw an animal being abused then I would put a stop to it. Not all animals suffer cruelty before they are killed. Some live happy and healthy lives.

vegan-vulcan:

Which part about killing someone needlessly doesn’t qualify as cruelty? Or are cows, pigs, and chickens no longer considered animals?

If you SEE animal abuse, you’ll stop it, but it’s fine if it’s happening somewhere far away behind closed doors? And you’ll even pay for it to happen because you get something out of it?

Also, let’s say hypothetically that farmed animals do live “happy and healthy lives”. (They don’t, just fyi. But for argument’s sake let’s pretend that they do.) Why does treating someone with kindness for a few years mean that you’re justified in killing them? How can I say I care about someone’s wellbeing if I’m planning on slitting their throat and eating their flesh?

If someone claims to be against animal cruelty and is not doing everything within their power to abstain from animal products, they’re a fucking hypocrite. I don’t care how much you love your dog or volunteer at a shelter or donate to nonprofits…you can’t pick and choose which animals are deserving of love just because it’s convenient for you. You’re not against animal cruelty…you pay for it with every meal. Fuck off.
